World Bear Day

For “World Bear Day”, here is a coastal brown bear from Alaska, last June.  It’s all about the claws.

1/1000 @ F11, ISO 4000, +1 exposure compensation, 700mm (R3 + 500F4 + 1.4X) mounted on Skimmer ground pod.  Almost full frame.

💝That’s a great picture! Here in NH, “our” brown bears are waking up and looking for food everywhere! They are such intelligent animals🤎 Happy SAFE Bear Day to each and every bear!

  2. Thank you very much Diane! It would be fun to take bear photos this time of year, especially with the cubs coming out of the dens.

Here in NH, some people don’t take down their bird feeders and then get upset about bears in their yards (about which people post many photos.) Fortunately the humans don’t mention the location of the bears as that attracts hunters. (I always enjoy your photos. Thanks for sharing beautiful wildlife with us).

  5. Thanks Joe! Not scary in that environment. Never felt threatened. Can’t wait to go back for some more close-ups.

Tim, not sure if this will reach you personally. I subscribe to a wonderful org. Called waterbear.com.you might enjoy a video I lived…Path of the Bear, with Chris Morgan about the Marsucan bears in Italy. It was fascinating, touched the soul. Diane Spiecker

  8. Thanks Diane. I’ll check it out. Looked him up on YouTube and found an older video of him going to Alaska. Gets me in the mood to go back.
